VELEZ MALAGA is the capital town of the Malaga district of Axarquia and covers an area of 156 sq kms. There are over 55,000 inhabitants dispersed throughout the district and these numbers are increasing as more newcomers make a home here. Steeped in history the Moslem influence is still to be seen around the old quarters of the town with its winding streets and narrow passageways. A busy town with many amenities such as the very impressive el Ingenio hyper shopping centre, large new hospital and just about every other type of commercial outlet. It also has its own fishing port in Caleta de Velez - another charming village to consider.
TORRE DEL MAR is the beach resort of Velez Malaga. The town has expanded over the last few years. It has 4 kms of beach and an impressive promenade which stretches all the way to Caleta de Velez. A busy town with many shops and amenities. A variety of apartments and studios close to the beach with various urbanisations offering houses, villas and flats.
